Hunger Relief International is an organization committed to alleviating childhood hunger
through nutritional feeding programs, improving access to education, establishing income
generating projects and implementing critical community development projects that create self-
sustaining families and communities around the world.
Key components of the organization’s efforts include the implementation of school and
orphanage-based nutrition programs. These programs address issues of short-term hunger,
encourage parents and guardians to enroll children in school, improve school attendance,
significantly increase the number of girls enrolled in and attending school, and improve
children’s capacity to learn and retain information.
Another important strategy of HRI is to support local farmers and to help strengthen national
economies. As such, HRI procures all of the food utilized in its programs in-country. HRI does
not import food to food-producing nations.
Utilizing nutritional support programs for children as an entry point to the long-term work
with communities allows HRI to get the best sense of what community needs really are and
what feasible, sustainable programs and projects would work best. These programs enable the
organization to develop strong working relationships with communities as part of a strategy to
facilitate real, sustainable change that will strengthen communities.
THE COFOUNDERS
The GETCHARITABLE cofounders met as Freshman at Auburn University 4 years ago. Just before graduating, they put class on hold to live the startup life and make GETCHARITABLE a reality.
